My name is
Audrey Meyer and I am a writer living in the beautiful
Maritime province of New Brunswick, Canada. I am also a university graduate with
degrees in Cultural Anthropology, and World Literature and Culture Studies. Which is to say, I am passionate about what it means to be human.
A few of my obsessions: a well-told story, mainly books and film; beautiful tattoos; simple rustic food; sunlight, firelight, good company and live music …

Purple Trillium
Press is where I write on the subjects nearest and dearest to my heart:
spirituality, simplicity and social change.
Why purple trillium?
I live in the East where these wild flowers grow, so when I found one growing in the distant regions of my yard I was quite struck by the fact and sensing some resonance decided to use this tri-petal beauty as a symbol for the three-locus orientation of the blog.
Why spirituality, simplicity and social
change?
I have a
deep-seated interest in living a simple, ethical existence. However, in the
interest of clarity:
·
Spirituality is a word that I find a bit
discomforting so I want to be clear that I use this term in the broadest
possible sense—I have created my own personal
practice based on experience, research and soul-searching for what resonates
and what does not.
·
Simplicity I think of mainly as a tool, as nothing
has been so liberating as clearing physical, mental and emotional clutter. I
favour a minimalist life-style for the fact that with
fewer distractions, I have space to really imbibe life—to contemplate, to
partake of life’s deep pleasures, to simply be present to its mystery and
awesome beauty.
·
Social change is something I’m passionate about from
the point of view of Gandhi’s dictum that we must all be the change we wish to
see in the world. If I want to live in a world that values operating on
soul-time, then I need to slow down, and pare down in order to create an
opening for the things that are most important to me—love, intimacy,
connection, passion and joy in the everyday, ordinary aspects of existence.
I invite you to
take the journey inward with me and discover that while life is a chaotic,
uncertain, messy, beautiful and complex business, that it can be managed with a
degree of grace that allows us to remain sane in the midst of it all.
